Week 7: Comebacks, career nights, and a costly injury wave
Week 7 delivered one of the wildest finishes of the season, a Monday Night star turn from Jahmyr Gibbs, and a string of injuries that will reshape depth charts heading into Week 8.
Headliners
Bo Nix and the Broncos’ 33-point fourth quarter
Bo Nix was simply shut out for three quarters, but that did not stop him from not only turning his poor fantasy performance around but allowing Denver to explode for 33 points in the fourth to stun the Giants 33–32 with a capped by Wil Lutz’s walk-off 39-yarder. Rookie QB Bo Nix accounted for four TDs (2 pass, 2 rush) and 327 total yards, becoming the first player in NFL history with two passing and two rushing TDs in a single fourth quarter. It’s already in the books as one of the most remarkable late swings you’ll see all year.
Jahmyr Gibbs’ prime-time breakout
On Monday night, Jahmyr Gibbs torched Tampa Bay for 218 total yards (136 rushing, 82 receiving) and two TDs, including a 78-yard sprint clocked at over 22 mph. Detroit’s defense smothered the Bucs, and the Lions moved to 5–2 with a 24–9 win. Gibbs’ explosiveness and receiving usage were the story.
Eagles’ air raid is back
Jalen Hurts posted a perfect 158.3 passer rating (326 yards, 3 TD) as Philly snapped a two-game skid, 28–22, in Minnesota. DeVonta Smith (183 yards, TD) and A.J. Brown (121 yards, 2 TD) both roasted the Vikings on explosive plays—an encouraging sign for an offense that had leaned defense-first early.
Christian McCaffrey stays inevitable
In the 49ers’ 20–10 win over Atlanta, Christian McCaffrey put up 201 scrimmage yards and two TDs, earning NFC Offensive Player of the Week…again….. That workload/efficiency combo remains unmatched.
The injury tape: who got hurt, and who’s next up
Kendre Miller (Saints, RB) — Torn ACL, out for the season.
Jayden Daniels (Commanders, QB) — Hamstring strain. MRI showed no long-term damage, but he’s out for Week 8 vs. the Chiefs; Marcus Mariota will start. Monitor rushing-based re-injury risk when Daniels returns.
Mike Evans (Bucs, WR) - Broken collarbone should be out for 6-8 weeks. But rookie Tez Johnson showed up with back to back TD’s and should be a strong WR2 for the offense.
